"Octobot" Could Save Your Life

European scientists have created a robotic octopus arm with adjustable stiffness. The arm itself could be used for surgical procedures and a full scale robotic octopus could be used for underwater search and rescue.

Cementing the Future

Inspired by the tough shells and ambient condition manufacturing of coral and marine molluscs, a marine geologist from Stanford is developing conrete that sequesters carbon from the atmosphere instead of releasing it.

Sea lions can dive up to 600 ft deep in the ocean while hunting for prey and reach top speeds of 25 miles per hour. While diving they slow their heart rate in order to remain submerged for longer periods of time. Sea lions are also incredibly intelligent. Harry, a sea lion at the San Diego Zoo, is an excellent performer in our Camp Critters show.
