What’s in a name? If you’re our new panda cub, that monumental moniker needs to combine cultural significance, meaning—and creativity! It’s no small feat, and that’s why we’ve opened the process up for input from panda fans all over the world. Suggestions must be submitted in Chinese pinyin, the official system to transcribe Chinese characters into Latin script, and the meaning must be included. We’re taking submissions only on the San Diego Zoo Global website page through Monday, September 24, and then the Giant Panda Team will review all submissions and narrow the list. Officials in China will make their approved selections, and you’ll get a chance to vote for your favorite in October. The winning name will then be revealed in mid-November!
