San Diego Zoo Animal Care Wish List

Dear San Diego Zoo Friend,

Today the San Diego Zoo celebrates our giant panda Yun Zi's second birthday.  Zoo keepers have created an elaborate cake made of ice, bamboo, and some of his favorite fruits for the little one to enjoy.  Yun Zi, whose name means "son of clouds," loves to climb.  So in his honor, we would like to give him a birthday present he'll never forget—a custom-made artificial tree!

The San Diego Zoo's Wish List is the perfect way to help animals.  The Wish List is an online gift registry for animals at the San Diego Zoo and San Diego Zoo Safari Park that is updated monthly. It features items needed to keep our animals happy and healthy, and it also supports our wildlife conservation efforts.

This panda tree will be approximately 12 feet tall, with a 3-foot-diameter trunk and 6 to 8 branches that incorporate pockets for live plants. This custom-made tree will be fashioned in concrete so it will last for years to come.  Its trunk and branches will be sculpted by hand to look like bark, then painted in lifelike patterns. During the month of August, you can help support this project for as little as $10.

On behalf of our birthday boy, thank you in advance for your special birthday gift to him!

Wishing you and your family a "pandariffic" August!
