It’s Elementary, Dear Panda…
Even though there’s no official “school” for panda cubs, Yun Zi’s keepers are still teaching him his ABCs—as in it’s Always Better for him to Chase something other than them! As he gets bigger, keepers are getting creative!
A Rhino Keeper’s Day
What’s it like to be a rhino keeper at the Wild Animal Park? Well, there are bales of hay and pounds of pellets to be fed—but there are also bonding moments that include patting, rubbing, and scratching! See rhinos in action and hear from keeper Jane Kennedy as she makes the rhino rounds in our video.
Albert’s Farm to Table Dinner at the Zoo
Join us for a special dinner at Albert’s Restaurant on June 12 dedicated entirely to locally grown, seasonal fruits and vegetables paired with naturally produced, handmade sausage and locally caught fish entrees. The focus of the dinner is sustainably grown food harvested within California, and we will have a guest from Slow Food Urban San Diego joining us to talk about this exciting form of dining. Dinner begins at 6 p.m. Cost is $69 per person, plus tax and gratuity. Call 619-557-3964 for reservations. Limited seating, reservations required. Maximum party size is 8 people. Reservations must be secured with VISA®, Discover®, MasterCard®, or American Express®.
Walking with the Dinosaurs—For Less!
Save $5 off ticket prices at the San Diego Natural History Museum for everyone in your group and see skulls, skeletons, and more in the cool new exhibit, Dinosaurs: Ancient Fossils, New Discoveries. Plus, have dinosaurs “in your face” at the 3D film “Dinosaurs Alive!” showing in the museum’s giant-screen theater. Purchase admission tickets online and use code 610, or print this page and bring it to the museum to get the discount. Expires June 30. Valid for new sales only. Cannot be combined with any other offer.
Summer Camp at the Wild Animal Park
Amazing summer experiences await kids ages 2 to 17 at the Wild Animal Park’s Summer Camp 2010. Kids can find out what it’s like to be a zookeeper, veterinarian, or animal trainer, plus paint, sketch, sculpt, or photograph wildlife and meet some extremely amazing animals up close. With both day and resident camp options, campers will have a summer unlike any other!
May Wish List
Primate shenanigans at the Zoo and Wild Animal Park are always fun to watch—and now you can provide our apes and monkeys with the tools for fun! Take a look at this month’s Wish List, complete with sea grass mats for our swamp monkeys, hay bungalows for marmosets, and ball toys for macaques and mangabeys. As an additional treat this month, you can send underprivileged children to camp, helping them have an unforgettable summer.
