"Ears" Lookin' at You, Kit!
Listen up: there's a three-month-old fennec fox on exhibit in the Children's Zoo's Nursery, and this big-eared little boy packs a whole lot of cute into his 1.5-pound body! As he grows, the youngster will somewhat grow into his characteristic large ears, but they will always be proportionally pronounced, as they are physical adaptations for the species' life in the African desert—they can hear underground prey, and the ears help dissipate heat. The as-yet-unnamed kit is charming Zoo visitors as he practices his stalking and pouncing skills on toy mice.
A Speedy Recovery
Ruuxa, the Safari Park's cheetah cub ambassador-in-training, is on the fast track to health following surgery to correct a growth abnormality in his front legs. His puppy pal, Raina the Rhodesian ridgeback, kept a close eye on Ruuxa's recuperation and is aiding in his rehab by accompanying him on therapeutic walks. Everything's better with a friend!

When In Drought—Save Every Drop!
"A drop in the bucket" can add up to a lot! San Diego County is in a Drought Alert condition with mandatory water-use restrictions, and San Diego Zoo Global is coordinating with the San Diego County Water Authority on a new regional campaign to help encourage residents and businesses to conserve this precious resource. The campaign, "When In Drought: Save every day, every way," offers ideas to help keep tabs on your tap—and other water-use habits to watch.
