The (Tasmanian) Devil You Say!
The Zoo's most noteworthy newcomers have us all in a spin! Bradley, Bixby, De-Vos, and Usmar are terrific little Tasmanian devils now making their home at the San Diego Zoo. They are getting used to their new digs and will be on exhibit in the Zoo's Conrad Prebys Australian Outback starting October 24. The fierce foursome has been brought to the Zoo to increase awareness of the species and to inspire support for Tasmanian devil conservation. And you can't see the devil just anywhere—the San Diego Zoo is currently the only zoo in the U.S. that has Tasmanian devils.
Wing on Down to Rio—In 4-D
Can the blue crew help save their feathered rain forest friends from the black market bird trade? Find out during Rio: The 4-D Experience, now playing in Discovery Outpost at the Zoo!
Kids Free in October, Presented by Mission Fed
Let your “wild ones” meet ours during Kids Free, presented by Mission Fed. October 1 through 31, kids age 11 and younger receive free admission to the Zoo and Safari Park. This is a great opportunity for families to discover nature with a month of fun activities. Visit the Kids Free website for the full schedule and come explore the great outdoors with us!
Win a Painting by Our Primate Picasso!
Only two more days remain for you to enter to win an original painting by Janey the orangutan. Janey has become quite the artiste, and she's ready to share her talents with Zoo fans and art aficionados alike. Our beloved red-headed Rembrandt paints in a decidedly primitive style, but her colorful works are highly sought after. You can enter to win one of Janey's original objets d'art simply by “liking” the San Diego Zoo Global page on Facebook and completing the entry form. The contest runs through October 13.
Three Ways to Enjoy Digital ZOONOOZ
San Diego Zoo Global's magazine, ZOONOOZ, is now available in a digital format that can be accessed three ways. The October issue, featuring the fun and feisty honey badger, is available for download on an iPad through iTunes, and on the Kindle Fire. If you don't have a tablet, you can visit the Zoo's website and enjoy the issue as well. This PDF version can be viewed on a desktop, Apple or Android tablet, or phone.
