“Little Gift” Makes His Big Debut
Giant panda cub Xiao Liwu (whose name means “little gift,”) is ready to meet his adoring the public! The chubby little black-and-white charmer has started exploring an outdoor habitat at the Zoo under his mom’s watchful eye, and the panda team has now opened this area to visitor viewing. Xiao Liwu and Bai Yun will be given access to the exhibit daily from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. (but of course it’s up to Bai Yun when they choose to come out). You can also watch via the Panda Cam to keep up with the panda’s progress.
2012: A Year to Be Proud Of
Last year brought many exciting arrivals and events to the Zoo and Safari Park. From baby pandas to conservation milestones, there was much to roar about! Here’s a fun video highlighting 2012 and helping set our sights for 2013 and beyond.
Discovery Days: Cool Cats Pounces In
It’s going to be the cat’s meow—and a roaring good time—at the San Diego Zoo when Discovery Days: Cool Cats comes to prowl at the Zoo, February 15 to 18. It’s the “purr-fect” event to discover lots of “cat-tastic” facts, join in the fun and games, meet our cat ambassadors in person, and take a special VIP tour. Check the Zoo website in February for all the details.
Valentine’s Day—Cheetah Adoption Special
Want to tell your friends and family they are the cat’s meow? There’s no better way to celebrate than with a cheetah adoption from the San Diego Zoo! All packages include a personalized adoption certificate, cheetah fact sheet, cheetah photo, and an Endangered Species milk chocolate bar.
