Winter Wonderland in Churchill?
Travel to the Arctic with JoAnne Simerson, senior keeper at the San Diego Zoo, to observe hungry polar bears ready to hunt for food. Her blog post also provides an update about our polar bears in San Diego—will Chinook be a mom soon?
Zoo's Hospital Outreach Program Cheers Children

San Diego Zoo's Adopt an Animal program is an eco-friendly way to make a difference for wildlife while giving thoughtful gifts to your friends and family. Starting at just $35, all San Diego Zoo adoptions include a personalized adoption certificate, animal fact sheet, and photo. All proceeds support the purchase of enrichment items and treats for our animals at the Zoo and Safari Park. Order your "wild" gifts today!
X-ray Saves Ibis from Heavy Metal
For birds exploring their environment, items like sticks and leaves can provide nesting material as well as enrichment. But when birds encounter glass or metal items, it can become life threatening. One Madagascar crested ibis accidentally ingested three metal objects, and had to go to the hospital for X-rays and get the debris removed.
Tiger Home For the Holidays
Our Sumatran tigers at the Safari Park are looking forward to a new home, sweet home. Our plan is to create three forested habitats for these critically endangered big cats, as well as homes for other Asian animals. Take a gander at the renderings of the new exhibit area and learn how you can help support it.
